Blueface are delighted to be the first company in Ireland to provide Visual Voicemail, which is a New Free Feature , accessible from our website and available to all our customers.

This new feature allows our customers to listen to voicemail messages, download them and delete them easily and all these handy features are available directly from our website. The page displays information about each message: time of call, caller number or ID, message duration and have Play and Downloads buttons afterwards. This new feature avoids the hassle of having to go through an automated system (IVR) to perform the same. We’ve all been through the boring: Press 4 for next message, Press 6 to delete … This time is now over.

If your mailbox is almost  or completely full (We allow up to 100 messages per mailbox), you’ll see a warning message inviting you to delete some old messages.

The audio player is based on a plug-in piece of software. On most systems this plug-in will be Quick Time Player, for Windows users on Internet Explorer this plug-in will be Windows Media Player (Make sure to have Windows up to date ). If the messages don’t play properly, try to install the latest version of Quick Time Player. It can be downloaded for free on Apple’s website.

Currently, it works on all of the popular platforms and with all major web browsers. We’re improving the software so that it will work on iPhone, Android or Blackberry handsets soon.

Hi everyone – following the launch of the Free Calls for Life offer, we are now pleased to announce that the replacement cost for a handset will be just €69!  There is already a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty on the units – they are made by ultra-reliable Siemens and we know they just keep on working. However if a unit does fail for some reason (see bottom of this post!), you can just replace it quickly and economically and continue to enjoy Free Calls for Life!

The reason we are using the Siemens Gigaset incidentally is a combination of reliability and dependability. We have used these handsets for many years and have had very few failures. In addition they are very easy to support. This all means that we can offer amazing deals like Free Calls for Life, as we know the hardware won’t let us – or you – down. And if it does ever fail, we can now replace out of warranty hardware for a very reasonable price – just €69!

As it happens, we had the first replacement request last week which we felt obliged to perform free of charge! A customer’s 2 year old microwaved the handset on full power for 30 seconds. We can confirm that the handset is now inoperable and can safely conclude that the units are not microwave ready. Please don’t try this at home!!

So,what can small businesses, haemorrhaging with cashflow problems, do? One way they can cut costs is by cancelling their subscription to the SFA. Another is by ensuring that they owe no money to AIB. A third is by reducing landline phone charges.

Last week, I found a new way of slashing my home telephone bill, courtesy of a small business with big ideas. Any scheme that kicks Eircom in the solar plexus is good news for those of us who have been victims of the dinosaur for decades.

So, it was wonderful to stumble on a small business start-up that promises to put another nail in the Eircom coffin. Two entrepreneurs entered my life. They will not be joining the SFA or borrowing from AIB. So far they have taken the private equity route.

As a crusty sceptic, I gave Alan Foy and Brendan Gaffney of Blueface a sideways glance when they insisted that I could have “free landline calls for life” if i handed over €199.

I have to confess as a punter who lost Stg£200 in the Eighties on the three-card trick to a man with an orange box just outside Harrods, I am a bit wary of racing certainties.

But knowing the pair well, I handed over the money and tested the product. The two telecom wizards installed a phone and promised me that I now have free landline calls for life.
